Default Needing help w/ 84 ps pump problem

Hi guys, first of all I’m sorry, this will be a long post.

I’m having trouble with my ps pump, it had a leak in the back plate seal. Since I was there I changed the axle and pressure plate orings. The thing is I live in Brazil and original parts are not available here, so I bought similar size orings available in the local market.

Mounted everything back, bled the system with engine off and wheels up. Quickly started and stoped the engine to fill up pump, but when I left the engine running a little longer and reved up for the fist time, the pressure plate locked in the pump body due to the new oring being a little different from the original, I suppose.

In this photo you can see the new pressure plate oring is a little bit wider than the original. I didn’t change the bearing

Took it of the car again, put back the old pressure plate oring. Now everything seems fine, fluid flowing through reservoir and some foaming from the air being burped out of the system.

I took it for a drive and the car now has SOME power steering, when I have to turn it, it works for the first 3/4 to 1 turn of the wheel. Beyond that it gets heavy. It goes back so straight position normally, but if I have to turn it again it’s heavy. I have to drive straight a little for the ps to come back. After two days using the car it still foams a little.

Checked low pressure hoses for leaks and retighten them. I’m all out of ideas where to look for problems and on the verge of taking it to a local shop.

Hope you guys can shed some light on my problem. Thanks in advance
