1990 Stereo Fading
I have a 1990 couple with an aftermarket Alpine head unit and the original Bose speakers. For the last few years each speaker one by one has been slowly fading out. At this time I only have one good speaker left in the back and one half working in the front which buzzes sometimes. When its cold outside the sound from the working speakers is very low and as the car warms up the volume returns to normal. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong please let me know. Thanx! :confused:

Bose system runs line level out put to the speaker satellite where the amps are and speakers are 2 ohm speakers. Aftermarket systems send amplified signals and are 4 or 8 ohm system. These are totally incompatible. If I were you, I would switch all speakers to aftermarket speakers which matches your head unit. If I remember correctly, rears are 6" or 6.5" and front, you will have to modify the factory enclosure to accept 4".

How was it installed. If it was wired in without current converters, you have successfully fried your amps one at a time. Not that the bose amps or speakers were any good to begin with. I just hope you didn't fry the alpine instead. :nono:
