TRANNY PROBLEM
I had an tranny oil and filter change done to my 85 L98 automatic a week ago. Now when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd there is a noise. I suspect that its the tranny. Any advice? :banghead: :cry

I would stop by another tranny shop and have them take it for a drive and see if they think there is anything amiss. I think I wouldn't tell them that you recently had it changed and the noise just started. Just have them see if it sounds funny to them. Then if they think there is something wrong tell them what you had done and see what they say. Just my opinion here. Good Luck.

After my tranny service about 500-1000 miles later (I think, can't remember exactly) I lost my 3/4 clutch pack and had to get my 700R4 rebuilt. One of the problems explained to me was that when the fluid is older and there is a lot of clutch dust in it the clutches won’t slip as bad, but as soon as you put nice clean fluid they start slippin’ like crazy. Hopefully yours isn’t this serious, but be prepared, I wasn’t and ended up getting towed home 60 miles the night before Thanksgiving for the nice sum of $320 :eek: thanks to the holiday.
