Steering wobble help
I have an 85 vette and there is a nasty steering wheel wobble. I know I need an oversize pin for the adjustable steering column as it has a lot of up and down movement (starting it to fix). The main play/wobble is experieced when driving. I already plan to put new tie rods, ball joints, and bushings (full bushing kit already bought) just to make the 39 yr old car sound again and worthy of holding an alignment for when new tires go on the car.
My question is how do I test the steering column or other componenets to see what amount it contributes to the problem? Looking for a logical/maybe in sequence method to test to identify problem areas contributing to the wobble/shaky steering.

An '85 I'd think the intermediate shaft coupling would be maybe the first check. You might need to remove a shield to visually check the shaft coupling for play/slop. You look and have someone else twist the steering wheel right/left several times in a recurring time frame. There's a few good threads regarding the early intermediate shaft coupling. A couple interesting threads.
