not running right
88, L98....couple dys go the check engine light came on and there was a loss of power. The check engine light sometimes will flicker over 40mph anf the go off the the thing runs perfect....sometimes it wont idle down drive it for five minutes, stop, put it in neutral and it idles down. Pur obd1 tool on it and it wont read the codes, tried the paper clip and it wont do anything. I have tried reading the codes this way before and it worked. Sometimes ya drive it and it is fine then it starts to act up...I have noticed a strange smell but not the rotten eggs smell when the cats are plugged up. I still wondr if the cats may be plugged a bit. Any other ideas?
