Just do it. Keep the stock system whole and uncut, just in case, and pick a cat back that has the sound you like. I’m a Borla fan. But there are a couple that sound great.

The cat back will give you a little of what you are looking for, but, depending on your expectations it may be not quite the sound you want. My suggestion is to get rid of the resonator and install your cat back for making it sound like a Vette should.

I'm leaning towards a Borla cat back system, myself I have one my Sierra and love it. Just wondering if anyone has issues with the ones for the Corvette

I put a Corsa cat back on a ‘96. Love the sound, no drone at highway speeds either. Something to consider

It is made by OBX (China) and is a copy of a Corsa system. It has a different note than Corsa, but I would definitely do this before a Borla.

why before a Borla?

is it the price or the exhaust tone?

I have a Corsa on my '95 and a Borla on my '96.

Both are well constructed systems. To me it comes down to the sound and the looks.

The Borla tips look cheap to me since they look like a rectangular tin can welded on the back of the muffler. The Corsa tips look very good.

The sound is different too. The Borla has a deeper tone which I like. The Corsa seems too quiet to me when inside the car, however my wife even commented about how loud it is outside the car.

I do prefer the Corsa exhaust tips myself as well, are both tips open or only one like the factory mufflers

Both tips are open, however one tip is straight through and the other goes through the muffler/resonance chamber. So the result is that the straight thru side gets most of the flow and becomes dirty faster. The picture below is after a 1000+ mile trip (before and after cleaning).

I'd be happy to set you up with either option brand new I own Corvetteexhaustsystems.com happy to go over deals together. Corsa will be quieter in cabin and Borla would be a deeper tone. It's up to you which path you choose

I am a big fan of the Corsa on my 96. My previous C4 (89) had some hobbled together exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers the PO had on it.....hated it.
