I want to upgrade replace my Bose system and I’m having a shop do it since I’m not experienced with this kind of stuff. I just want to make sure I’m buying the right stuff and not missing anything. I guess I just want to make sure everything is compatible with each other as well. Here's what I’m thinking to buy. Thanks
Has the shop replaced the original Bose with a "normal" stereo before? As I understand, all the speaker wires need replaced. You might also ask them to be careful with all the 30+ year old brittle plastic in a C4.
A double din will not fit, original stereo is only 1.5 din, and a single din mounting kit require a single din unit.
Also there is limited space for the magnet so all 6x9 speakers will not fit.
If you have the big stereo option with BOSE active speakers you have to run new speaker wires from the head unit.
Crutchfield lists 6" or 6 1/2" speakers for both front and rear for my 91. Notes on the few I clicked on say that special mounts will need to be fabricated, but factory grills can be used.
