Default Wiring with Cooling Fan

Hello!
Well today my 86 Convertible stopped running the single electric fan. After pulling the connector I determined there is no power going to the fan under any conditions, including grounding the diagnostic port and removing the switch connector. I followed the line back all the way to the relay. I have power when I test power at the relay with power on. However.. I’ve hit a knowledge roadblock as I’ve never truly tested a relay. So I just purchased another one and it will be here this week.

I’ve also tested a good motor and I don’t have power. Besides the computer is there anything else I should look at in the meantime? It’s starting to feel like I’ll need to wire in my own switched fan.

Any help or direction is really appreciated. I’m still learning

There are sellers on Ebay who have the FSM (factory service manual) available as a PDF download at a reasonable price. I have done this for my last 3 Corvettes and my truck and wife's vehicle. I like being able to use the computer search function to find information. Also you can print the needed pages to take to the garage and not worry about getting grease, oil or antifreeze on them.

do you recommend the red front factory book or the Haynes? I’ve seen varying reviews of each

Just an update.. I got my problem fixed. After replacing the relay, I accidentally popped the fuse for the fan. Replacement and it’s good to go. I’m to keep it from overheating now. Seems ti want to go past 230 sitting or driving. May need a good burp. Thanks for all the help.
