In older GMs, you'd have to reach way up under the dash to reach the headlight switch to push the button in order to pull out the headlight ****. Well, I'm trying to pull off the top pad so I can change my turn signal flasher and there's a top pad screw on the far left side at the corner of the dash.
It appears that I have to get the front of the dash off in order to get to the screw. And that requires removing the headlight ****.
I've tried looking up under the passenger side of the dash to change the flasher and I can touch it with my finger but can't do anything with it. I've even tried to get to it by pulling out the radio, climate control, and info center (why would they put the hazard flasher behing the info center????? :withstupid: ) and reaching through from the side. That didn't work.
To get to the headlight switch I pulled the carpeted knee bumper (?) and all I see is the vent ductwork.
the headlight switch **** is held on to the shaft with a friction clip. at the rear of the **** place a small flat blade screwdriver on the clip and press the clip do the rear and slide the **** off the shaft. :D
forgot to mention. the flasher is mounted in a spring clip attached to the dash support brace. i have an aftermarket dash panel so i just unscrewed the six screws removed panel and there it was. my manual says the following: remove the three hex screws from the dash panel under the passenger side dashboard, then pull down the panel enough to unplug the light.remove this panel.locate the blue and purple wires leading to the flasher. push up on the spring clip to disconnect the flasher. pull it down and replace flasher. good luck.
