MAP sensor seal alternative
I replaced the MAP sensor on my car. The seal was twisted from what I assume was incorrect installation at the factory. Not sure whether it caused a vacuum leak or not, but I resolved the issue anyway.
The original seal is a bit hard to find and a bit expensive (mainly the shipping). Apparently, there is a Harley Davidson part that is the same as the original GM. It was even more expensive.
I took a different path. I found seals for newer style MAP sensors on Amazon.
They fit beautifully! Obviously, you only need one and with prime, free shipping.
Old seal
New and old
New seal mounted on MAP sensor. Use a tiny amount of grease to lubricate the ribs on the seal, so it slides into the manifold easier. The grease should not even be visible. DO NOT get grease in the port hole or you'll mess up the sensor readings.
