I had to replace the Ignition module, Pickup Coil and from what I could tell the only way to do this was to remove the distributo from the engine. More in depth than I usually do. Now, in replacing the dist, does it matter the positioning on the Rotor seat? I do know about where the position in but not sure how I will now if it is properly seated. Can someone give some good explanation here?
Also, most of the plastic connectors that were in the dist below rotor were brittle and crumbled. Were can I get these plastic connectors?
Have some patience, I know there are members on this forum that will be able to answer your questions. If I could, I would. Your distributor must be different then my 85's, I was able to replace everything without taking the distributor out.
I know the connectors you speak of, dont know where you can get them, if the dist is still out you may want to tape the wire up to insulate it better. I have had to use RTV to protect them....
yes the dist. has to go in correectly, did you mark the rotor location before you pulled it out, if not you will be guessing as where to locate it. If you marked it often times you have to drop the dist in and move the rotor a few teeth or degrees past or before the orginal mark, some experimenting will be necessary to get it to drop down all the way. Have you moved the crank position, if so you will ahve to start frorm scratch...# 1 at TDC, locate # 1 plug wire location in dist. cap and drop dist in so that the rotor lines up with the wire location for # 1.
