Greetings on and all. I have an 89 Vette and something seems to be draining the battery power, new battery at that. If i leave the door open for more than 5-10 minutes, it doesn't want to start. It does have an after market stereo,CD changer and amp,but I've been told twice that theyre hooked up properly and shouldn't be the cause,..any ideas?
Thanks
When it comes to battery problems a fresh battery is a good place to start next is connections, so let's take a step back start with disconnecting terminals and make sure they are clean. The face you can see and the side you can't see underneath the bolt, with that clean and tight hopefully your problem is fixed.
If it isn't your going to need a jumper wire and a Digital volt meter to test for a background voltage/Amps draw. Some will dispute what is acceptable but it is in the Milliamps

You mentioned that an open door for ~10 minutes causes the 'it doesn't want to start'. If you don't open the door and nothing is specifically 'on' and leave it for an hour or so for example, does it also not want to start or does it start "normally"?
