My fluid has been leaking for a long time and now it is time do fix the leak. I first searched the archives and found that Advanced Autoparts had a rebuild kit for under 30 dollars, but they say it is no longer available. I do not want to buy a new system, so where else can I buy just a rebuild kit (if "Bob" from Advanced Aut is right) or exactly what parts are needed that I could source at the local auto supply shops? For my Canadian friends, Canadian Tire has a master cylinder "kit" for the clutch and they are charging 54.95 Cdn, but they have no idea what it consists of. Can anyone offer some guidance? :banghead:
I just did mine but replaced the master and slave as new units. I read numerous posts on the various Vette forums that scared me away from trying to repair my existing ones. Evidently many folks who try this find the repair does not work as well as anticipated or not at all.
Pulled them out on the weekend and the master looks good (hard to get out), but the slave it shot. Would it be wise to also change the lines or are these problem free? As an aside, there is a metal looking solenoid behind the slave cylinder that has a wire connection (which was unplugged) and my Haynes manual does not show it. It has a bunch of numbers with 100% stamped below. Any idea what this is for and why it might be unplugged?
