My 92 automatic transmission went out. It has a round 5 terminal Transmission case connector. I bought a good used transmission out of a 86 iroc camaro didn't realize until side by side that it had a 4 terminal square looking TCC. Is there anyway to continue with this swap? Will my car function properly if modified to work?
There aren't many differences between the older 700r4 and the 4L60 but from my understanding this is one of them. Also I'm pretty sure the output shaft on a C4 automatic was cut shorter than on an F body. This is easy to fix but just something to look at.
You should not attempt to use this transmission. Being an '86, it doesn't have the auxiliary valve body and gives harsh engagement when the forward clutch comes on. The sprag is weaker and as mentioned, the output shaft will need to be shortened. Tailshaft housing needs to be replaced with the one for a Corvette. ECM needs the additional 2 inputs from the five pin. Rebuild your '92 box.
