Default 86 standard seat question

Is it normal for the seat backs to have a fair bit of for and aft movement even when locked?
Both sides seem to behave the same way, the seat back angle adjustment seems to work
and the tilt forward via the lever on the rear of the headrest seems to work.

Not sure, but my 86 has about 3 1/2” travel on both seats.

Same in my '94. From my studies of the C4, this is one of the curious "features" inherent of the way the seats are designed.
