Default NOID light usage.

Hello all,

So still having idle issues so I got a noid light kit to check the IAC and injectors. When I plugged the light into the harness the two red lights lit up solid. The instructions stated that if u check an injector and light remains solid there is a problem with ECM. Is this the same with the IAC or should the lights flash with it also. 1985 base model with 4+3.
TIA.

The stepper motor according to the FSM is reset at key off / on. I am unsure of the frequency at which the ECM sends pulses out to the stepper motor in the IAC. I am also unsure of the noid lights reaction time vs the frequency of the IAC counts.

Idle is also controlled by battery voltage, not enough voltage, rpm goes up etc.

Below is a test that unplugs the IAC, if the car is idling OK, and you follow the directions for disconnection the IAC then the IAC will not move therefore can not change idle. Other then that, it would take an oscilloscope, OBD1 software or maybe a meter with duty cycle to see the steps.

Sorry I was not much help, but there are also some erratic idle suggestions in the FSM page below.
