I've been digging and digging and it seems I'm finding all the old stuff. I'm looking for a good reliable way to tune my L98 computer IF I do some mods like a cam, or (gasp) go crazy a do a 383. I've been calling around the Houston area and have been told 3 times now that all the "tuners' that can work on the L98 OBD1 computer are either out of business or.... dead. I don't want to start ripping things apart if I am not totally sure I can tune correctly. I KNOW people can do it, but I"m starting from scratch. I have an old setup that cam with the car but it just will not connect to my laptop despite the advice and help I've received.
I found a reference to a "C4 scan and tune" page, but I can't find that anywhere which suggests it's also pretty old. So... the question.
Is there anything current on this topic? Intake work? Tuning work? I know I can send the computer off to someone but I've heard that can be hit or miss also.
Thanks in advance. If I'm being redundant, I'm just trying to measure 3x, only cut once.
Yes. A "mail order tune" from PCMofNC is a good place to start.
You have a speed density L98 in your 90 TPI. There's tons of aftermarket tuning support for that ECM. If you want to start tuning, download the free version of TunerProRT along with the $8D xdf and ads files.

This site has great info if you want to do it yourself or you can send your chip into him for a fee. Something like $150 but may have gone up. It applies to the L98s even though it says LT1 in the url.
I followed the info on this site to do my 92. I got a laptop and bought the cords it suggested. I downloaded tunerpro and was able to datalog and save the file. I was able to diagnose a problem I had with my car. I never did finish tuning mine. You need to desolder your stock chip from the holder. I got impatient and ruined mine. I found a replacement and haven’t tried again.
This is all great CURRENT info. Thanks guys! I've saved it to my google "special places" folder for corvettes. Now I just have to figure out which one.
