Bought my son a vette for his first car. He takes very good care of it 😎
He asked me about making the exhaust louder. It looks to already have a flow master cat back and honestly I think it sounds great as is, but he's not satisfied. 😂 Can't say I blame him I was always the same way lol.
From my 99 Trans Am LS days I remember the QuickTime cutouts always being something I wanted so I suggested those to him. How has the feedback been with those on the C4's? What is the diameter size on these cars?
I have installed 3" in cutouts on my 1990 ZR-1 from Qtp, Modified a LT one exaust and had extensions welded just before , Just check the picture
I removed the complete spare tire assembly as i have an extral transmission coller in its place. A switch by the drivers seat controls the opening and closeing and any pl
ace in between. The down pipes are adjustable to the side and down close to the ground.

This pick was taken during the install. I didn't have the wiring done yet.
Also if he want's something a little less permanent I fab and sell test pipes for 84-85 C4's. They're nice because you can just swap the cat back on if you need to get it inspected. And there are no permanent mods to the exhaust. They make the exhaust sound better without a lot more drone inside the car.
I plan on putting one on my 88. I'm going to try and add it to where the mid cat is. So I would increase sound in general and then all be able to open the cut out. There are 2 kinds of cut outs I could find. Either with electric motors or ones that work off of vacuum... not sure which is more reliable.

The Summit Racing electric cutouts are pretty reliable. But I'm not using the control boxes or switches that came with them. I have a small PLC running mine off a touch screen.
The failure point in these is the clockwork gearing the small electric motor connects to. One they bind up, toss em, don't bother trying to ultrasonic clean them and re-lube them. Once they bind up they're done.
My dad is a horologist (with around 60 clocks in the house at my last count with the average age of 120 yrs old all the way to 315), if he can't get them running again, don't even waste your time trying. Replacement gear boxes are around $80
They aren't designed with a shred of moisture prevention in mind. Or any kind of lube that I've found during the autopsies. Heaven forbid we drive a vehicle when the road is damp and the underside of the vehicle gets wet from the road mist and takes out the cutouts gear box...
