Finally going back down the injector rabbit hole having found an injector that has a heavy clack rather than a click (not connected to FPR clicking, diff story).
In port fuel injection, is it possible for less (one hole) atomization to be better than four, spraying straight down to the intake valve vs a mist ??
Shopping for EV1 22lb long injectors is grueling. I know, a lot of you are thinking, just buy 22lbs injectors from our favorite vender. Are bosch 22lb injectors still made??
I recently asked a vender through an email and was told new 24lb injectors were modified to make 22 ?? And to answer, is there a corvette premium to injectors? YES. If D III injectors run a little lean are 24 OK the way they are ?? Ford has a few 22lb'ers and there are other and there are some that are close and on and on. Look for the part number of the injectors you are going to buy. As I see it, they are not shown ??

Is there a one or 2 hole choice ??
Single‑hole injectors can sometimes work better for direct valve spray, but generally 4‑hole injectors provide finer atomization and better fuel distribution. Genuine Bosch 22 lb/hr EV1 injectors are rare but still available; some vendors use 24 lb units modified to 22 lb. There are one‑hole or two‑hole options, but you must ensure the hole pattern matches your engine’s intake design and fuel requirements.
@tequilaboy thanks, would you share your thoughts on that ?? I found 8 new (supposedly) 24lb ford cobra 0280150947's for $150 but some sites say they are 25lb.
I really wish I'd not have installed those Bosch III injectors over the summer.
I'm pretty sure I'm running lean. I smell exhaust now and never did before.
Notwithstanding the fact that the tickity tockety things are annoying as all heck. Especially at a red light. I mean they're really overly loud. I, for one, am likely to advise against them whenever I see anyone ask about them around here in the future.
Should have just replaced the Delphis with another set of Delphis...
Common cure is to add an injector o-ring below the injector in the intake boss to quite it down,
Flow # for coil powered pulse injector is just an indicator of capacity at 100% duty cycle at a certain PSI… some injectors behave completely differently to others with the same flow ratings, may have different spray patterns, and some can also burn up the injector drivers in the ECU. Look up the slopes on Holley EFI website on many different injectors, as they are programmed into the ECU’s when the data is known. Otherwise you need an injector flow bench and test different pulse width and frequencies to compare with the OEM and also make sure the coils ohm out the same.
My overly expensive Delphi's are pretty much silent unless you put an ear to them. They are also not the exact flow equivalent to the factory injectors on my 86 despite what is said about them.
The ECU more or less seems to be able to compensate once in closed loop though. I notice they have gone up to over $500 for a set now, crazy.
@Natty C "the fact that the tickity tockety things are annoying"
Have you listened to the fuel pressure regulator to see if it is doing the clicking ??
Yeah, it's not the regulator. I checked it. And it's pretty much new, too.
It's definitely the Bosch IIIs making the racket.
I'm more concerned with the lean condition they seem to be presenting, though, particularly given how strict the state is with emissions here. It's ridiculous. I don't have the equipment to program the ecm to make up for it either. And I'd have to learn how to do it even if I did,
Really wish that I'd have read some of the threada around here rgarding these issues with the Bosch III's before buying and installing them, because if I had read tham, I'd have definitely replaced with the Delphis instead.
