Opti problem
Need suggestions for 94. Runs ok cold, backfires as the engine heats up. Thinking moisture in the cap. What is this thing going to need to fix the problem. Opti net is $ 449.98 and cap and rotor kit is $ 253.07 Thanks in advance :steering:

Car has only 17,000 on it. Exhaust is quiet and doesn't appear to have any leaks. Never had an O2 cause backfiring. I was thinking moisture in the cap.

Well, you should be able to pick up the complete distributor assy for under $300 from Jeff Kopp, but I would have someone put the thing on a computer and check your o2 sensor operation (which only plays into the equation after the car warms up,) first.

An opti problem's symptom are ususally high RPM missing and irratic idle.
If you need one, check with Jeff Kopp at Superior Chev. It's about $330 for a complete unit.

I vote no on the Opti. Unless you have had the car through a few car washes with the hood up. Spend $30 to put it on a machine, not $300 on a Opti.
If you have more time than money you can try to clean it if the bearing is good. I had 100K plus on mine before I cleaned it and it is still going. :blueangel: On a prayer.
