Has anyone tried this and it operates great….Enviro-Safe Proseal for R12
Any of the "replacement" refrigerants work acceptable. In a nutshell, they are all petroleum based.(propane or other "...anes) which means it is somewhat flammable but so is the new R1234YF, now in every new vehicle. Some here will "Chicken Little" with warnings of catastrophe but these are the same people that don't have a problem with 20 gallons of explosive gasoline under their *****.
My 86 was converted to 134 25 years ago. I was able to buy 134 years ago to top it up. Now in Canada, can’t buy the small cans, so I decided to vacuum it out and install the propane version, since I can buy it anywhere.
It’s been 1 1/2 years now, and still blowing nice cold air.
No complaints.

You can buy it on Amazon. Also, you're pretty close to the border so you can pick it up at any Walmart. I just bought 24 cans in Vegas. 9.98

Yeah. People generally don't understand what it takes to even hit the LEL for most of these products... I did the math and I don't think if the whole system filled the cab you'd make it there... obviously had to take some liberties in the calculation but it seems unlikely.

You are correct. It is usually the ones that know FA about a subject that make the most noise. A very large portion of the vending machines one deals with are filled with R290 - propane.

Yeah. I actually really like the 1234 system on my daily, works quite well, sometimes too well. I meter about 34-36F out the vent even in 110F ambient temps. Has not frozen yet in about 7 years though I get way too cold in the cab. People just like to complain. It's an A2L anyway.
We had a call out for a odor investigation at a pool... dehumidifier dumped its whole charge in a 12x12 closet, that pegged every freaking meter we had when we turned the corner to enter the room. That is the only time I ever had a refrigerant leak go above UEL for a call. I don't recall what the system was charged with, we were just told to, and I quote, "make it so the HVAC tech can finish the job."

Amazon was where I last bought it, wasn’t available when I looked last.
I see it’s back now, at outrageous prices.
I paid $6 a can for the propane version 😆
I am not allowed in the USA, so that was never an option.

^^^^^^^^ I'll pick you up some on my way to Sonoma next year.
I really wish I picked up a case a few years ago. Walmart was clearing out the punch top 134a for like a dollar a can. Not that I've needed it but would be nice to have a few laying around.

I also have a 30 lb. cylinder but if it's just a top up, the cans are easier.
