Default Idle too low after updates?

1989, stock. Previously idled @ 700. After removing a laboring AIR pump, my idle manages to settle @500 more often then not. Seems too low, but is there any cause for concern? 98% of the time it idles perfectly fine, with the other 2% I see some minor RPM dancing between 5-7.

Is it as simple as adjusting the screw when the car is warm? I think i'd be more comfortable @ 700

Could be a vacuum leak that is showing up intermittently. Sometimes a line can heat up and seal off or open a slit or crack in a vacuum line. I would think 700 is about right so clearly something is up. When it goes lower, and you come to a stop, does it shut off every now and then?

Search for Minimum Idle Air adjustment. Do/verify that, report back.

I have vacuum line arriving tomorrow, had it on my list of to-dos to clean up the engine bay a bit anyway. It has never shut off and even idling at 500, it sounds OK...but I do get the occasional fluttering.

575 rpm idle in gear (not P or N) is normal. 700 rpm is too high unless 6 speed.

Appreciate this! It is an Automatic. Drive home today, sitting in traffic, was idling at 600. I'll continue to monitor and note conditions when I see the 500 pop up again. Vacuum lines should be complete in the next few days.

On drive this morning - immediately coming to a stop at a light and for the next minute or so, the car would idle @600. If the idle lasted longer than ~1 minutes, it would drop to 500. No sputtering / surging during this, just the lower RPM. This was just after getting off the highway, 25+ minutes of driving.

Conditions:
Oil - 188
Oil Pressure - 25
Coolant - 182

NOTE: The idle screw is blocked from factory. If unblocked, there is little to prevent vibration from moving the screw over time. Lock it in place with a thin nut.
