Thanx for all your help :D One more thing is it ok to go 275/40 ZR-17 all around?? Because right now i have 285/40 ZR-17 on the back why would i got smaller?? thanx for your help
Thier is nothing wrong with Dunlops you guys  Yeah they may not be as good as the more expensive tires but for how much dry traction you are getting for the money its really very good. Tread wear is fast, but you can make them work if your don't go around doing burnouts all the time. And Mojo I hardly think your tires have 12,000 miles of normal abuse on them
Im thinking of going with 2 Kumho 275/40zr17's on the rear. But how will they look on a 17X11 rim? Right now i have some dunlops mounted on there since i got the rims and they are 315/35zr17. I dont want it to end up looking funky, since the 275 tire's max mountable rim size is 11 inches.
Thanks,

Well, if you look carefully in the background of my pic, you can see the Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 that I had on there. Those tires have about 20,000 miles with even more abuse than the Dunlops.

Its ok to run 275s all around if youre running 17x9.5 all around. You could run 285s in the rear, but you do lose the ability to rotate tires.
If you go 17x11, Id run at least a 315 in the rear, 275/285 is too small.
I'd go with Bridgestone Potenza RE730's. I've had mine on since 1/1/01, and they're STILL rollin (already got 25k miles on em, and they're still good!)

Well whats the tread wear or tread compound? Dunlops in my opinon are a great tire for daily driving with the occasional AutoX or trip to the track. I would hope the Michelins wouldn't wear as fast as the dunlops considering your paying quite a bit more for them. I'm not claiming to some tire god, but I do know that I'm not gonna take tread wear advice from a burnout champion. :nonod:
Here's another thought I forgot to include in a previous post above.
To me...its all about how quick you can get your 'engine horsepower' transferred to the 'rear wheels'.
I'm the original owner of my '86 Vette, and I can tell you...prior to me doing all the performance mods I've done the past 12 years...I too could spin my tires all day long...no matter what tires I was running...and this included the Dunlops.
The reason I say this, is because prior to my mods it seemed my front end would only 'lift' about half of what it does today.
Therefore, if my car weight isn't transferring as quick as it needs to, in order to give me my best traction expectations...then I need to do something about it.
I know my traction was better with the Dunlops versus the Goodyears, but not as good as it 'needed to be'.
I added a set of Bilstein Gas Shocks, back in Feb. 1992, and I do believe this helped my traction concerns too.
It was about this same time frame, that I began my engine modifications, and the bottom line was...the more I did to increase the horsepower to my engine, the better it seemed the tires would 'dig into' the asphalt.
Was it the Gas Shocks or the engine mods? I'm not sure myself...but the front end lift was a very noticeable change to me, and the 'burning of tires' seemed to be less and less, as the mods increased.
Hopefully this makes some sense to those who are following me, and trying to understand my theory?

:iagree: I just had a set of RE730's installed and so far no complaints.
hey dont flame the dunlops there great tires ,now the tred wear rating(130-160 ) makes there life very short like 12-15000 miles but they hook real good for a street tire . you wont find a tire that does evey thing ie..good in wet,try long lasting, and hooks up well at the track its just not gona happen

I have the RE730's on my stock rims...great tire for the price.
