One of the easiest "mods", i've ever done. Under 5 mintues. Four screws TOTAL.
Dyno testing was showing that the computer was pulling out timing from 4.5krpm and up, costing me potentially 10 HP. See, chart below. I believe its from my Corsa exhaust. This should fix it!
To bad i can't drive it on the roads yet. :cry
I have the LT-4 knock module as well. Between the roller rockers, exhaust, and all the noise the Fidenza makes, it really helps. Even with it, I occasionly get less than a degree pulled from knock.
Where is the knock module located on a 92 LT1?How hard is it to swap it out for the LT4 module? :smash:
There is no replaceable knock module on a '92, you will have to either change the sensitivity in the prom or make an electrical circuit to desensitize it. The separate module is on the later lt1/4's.
Does anyone have the GM partnumber for teh LT4 knock module??
Also can the people who have installed them let me know what improvement they were able to measure. Is there actually anyone who has done dyno work on these modules??

Re: Got My LT4 Knock Module Installed (Alex D)
No dyno stuff here, but I used to log my runs at the dragstrip... The LT4 KM didn't make a HUGE differece in my car (all cars are different depending on condition, mods, etc)...
On my car though it was a consistent 1 deg less of timing retard with the KM... It's been awhile since I looked at the number, but I believe I was consistently pulling 5-6 deg of timing advance at WOT, and 4-5 with the new KM...
Some cars benefit more with the KM if they have mods, although I have seen some totally stock cars (F-Bodies mostly) that benefitted by quite a bit...
I put mine on last week and it cured a problem I've had since I put on my catback exhaust. I was getting so much of a retard that the car would slow down in 1st and 2nd gear if I didn't shift up after it kicked in. It was sensitive to the quality of gas I had in the tank, loved octane, especially Sunoco 94. I could only get a full throttle run with the 94 octane.
Now with the LT4 hot cam I have a miss in 1st and 2nd gears WOT only. I have ordered plugs and wires from Jeff Kopp. If that doesn't do it I go for the wide band dyno tune to pull out some static timing.
