You dont need that stuff.

Just port your intake manifold, port your heads, and add a hotcam kit, and youll be alot faster than any LT4.

Porting an LT1 intake is a total waste of time. A professional intake port job adds 3-5 HP to a built 435 HP LT1 setup. Headers, cam, head porting and oversize valves, matched chip and 52mm TB will give 425HP with long tubes or 400 HP with EPA shorties. Run with 405 HP Z06's. Skip the 335HP LT4 upgrade.

Simply not worth it.. unless.. you are looking to extract MAXIMUM power from the motor, ie. a NA stroker motor.

probably $5000 to $7000 if you have a shop do all the work......

top end "kits"go for $3000 to $4000 for parts alone.

here is a link to VETTE DOCTORS..(see left column)...

Ok, most here are not recommending this as is, but what if you had the LT4 intake and heads ported as well? I ask this because Pete at CNC has told me that by doing this I will see large gains over simply porting my LT1 heads. He did agree that porting an LT1 intake is a waste of time. So what kind of gains can we expect comparing ported LT1 heads w/ Hotcam to the LT4 conversion kit with ported heads and intake on a LT1? :boxing

I can get the entire LT1 - LT4 conversion kit with all the parts needed, minus the timing chain for $2,000.00 from GM performance, ready to fit. Compared to this it seems like everything else is a rip off.

To put those heads and intake 9assuming thats with the LT4 roller rockers too) you will definitely see a gain. But in my opinion not worth $2000. Id guess maybe around 20 -25 hp. The LT4 cam was revised to take advantage of the better flowing heads too. If you are planning to do some serious modifications in the future ie. Ported heads/cam/stroker/etc, then go with the LT4s, they flow considerably better than the Lt1s when race ported. What you are probably comparing the LT4 conversion too is a heads/cam poackage. Remember a heads and cam package gives you many more options as to how much power you want. Although it is more expensive, you can gain an easy 50-100 hp and even more depending on how aggresive of a cam and porting job is done.
