I've got the old one off and the new one will not snap in. There are clips that are supposed to pop into the little holes. They will not pop in. Am I supposed to hammer these things into place or what? :smash:  Should the clips go thru the holes from the inside of car towards the outside or should they slip over through the crack and pop in the holes from the outside of the car toward the inside? I've tried both ways, but they will not pop in at all. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be great. Thanks
Don't hammer it in. I did this the year before last when I couldn't remember how to get it back in and ended up putting a dent in mine. As I recall the clips slip between the glass and the holes you mentioned. I was convinced they would go between the fiberglass and the holes and started hammering like you. Then when it wouldn't go in, I finally got a flash of inspiration and tried it the other way. Slipped right in, then I put a couple pop rivets in and I was in business.

(edit) P.S. the clips don't actually go through the holes, just press up against them.
The legs of the clips go into the holes. If you don't slacken the felt bumpers on the inside of the glass it will be more difficult. With those two slakened off you can install more from the side rather than straight down. Get them all started before you firmly push them in all the way. Start from one end and work towards the other. In my case one of the clips didn't line up with the hole making it impossible to install. I broke the leg off that clip so i could get it on. Looks great again. Good Luck
Just replaced the drivers door you must looosen up the window top guide only two bolt's (a lot easier also if you take off the door panel fron the bottom FIRST!! Then you can see better the holes for alignment. If you can't get it out be really carefull and only use a small flat-tip on the back side of the trim piece itself to remove the metal hooks from the trim piece. They act like fish hooks when cliped in. Take lots of time and be carefull!! :blueangel:
Re: Help with side window weatherstrip (VET-4-US FL)
Thanks everyone, I got it in right after i made the post last night. I actually removed the two felt window guides because I was replacing them. Oh yeah, that driver side door handle trim piece is a monumental pain to get back into place with that big wiper switch in place. I could hear the plastic creaking while doing that. Thanks GM  .
