I went to a local bolt distributer with my stock bolts and purchased allen socket bolts of the same grade and length. I did not like the clearance between the bolt heads and headers on cylinders 3 through 6. Now I can torque them properly without worrying about stripping them.
I also used the stock bolts with no problems. A couple of them on the right bank were a little snug against the header tubes but all in all the stock bolts will get the job done.
After "modifying" box wrenches etc., I finally came across the 1" ARP SS header flange bolts with a smaller hex head. These allowed me to use the thick Cometic gaskets. You can use a 1/4" drive socket set and not have to either "modify" your new headers, or fight with the last bolt on #8. What a B*&^% getting that from underneath after removing the "K" member, and turning it one flat at a time with a bastardized box wrench. As far as 12 points on an L98, forget it! It can be done, but what a MAJOR PITA on some of them.
