I've got the engine hangine half out of the car and I realized I forgot to disconnect one connector, the one on the oil pan, drivers side. It plugs into a giant nut. I can't figure out how to disconnect this connector. I know people have done it before, Is there a trick I'm missing, it lookes like a normal connector but the clip you would pry back to get it off is imbedded inside the nut. Please help.
Re: HELP QUICK!! Engine removal question (mn_vette)
Use a small screwdriver from behind the connector lock vs in front of it like you would usually would. Pry such that the front of the lock lifts upward while you're pulling the connector away from the pan.
I spent about 6 leasurly hours doing all of the pulling of junk off of the engine. I didn't have a hoist yet so I wasn't in a big hurry then it took me about an hour or so to actually get the engine out making sure I got everything unplugged(I forgot quite a few things) If I had to do it again, I'd say I could pull the whole thing in about 6. But things always take longer than you think.
