you prime the whole engine not just the oil pump. you need a old distributor with the teeth machined of of the gear and turn it with a drill or speed wrench :chevy

You have to take out your Dis and get a special tool to put in its place then you hook up a drill motor to the other end of that tool and turn it for a few min, it is best to turn it until you have oil comming up to the valve covers.

Well since it has been sitting so long then I would say yes, because all the parts dont have any oil on them now since the oil has drained to the oil pan.
