Not sure what the Supra Forums are saying, but the E55 (found on internet):
349 horsepower at 5500 rpm, and 391 pounds-feet of torque at 3000 rpm. The claimed 0-60 time is 5.4 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.
Won't touch a C4 with even a 100 shot, pretty close to it just stock.
Future Kill Story 2003 E55 vs 96 Vette?????
I would like to get some feedback on what car you guys think will win a standing start 1/4 mile street race over a concrete bridge. Both cars on street tires and pump gas.
The Vette on the 150 shot, or the new MB E55 (which a well known Supra owner has purchased recently and is taking delevery in a few weeks) The E55 has 469hp and 515lbs. In a recent Car & Driver test is ran a 12.5 at 116. The Vette should run a 12 flat at least race night, the car dead hooks every time so wheelspin will not be an issue.
it's the E55 AMG that has 469 hp, not the base E55
There is no base E55....All E55 are AMG... the specs that vette92 listed is for the old one. 349hp V-8 NA runs low 13s. The 03 E55 is supercharged and puts out 469hp. It will run mid to low 12s.
The new one willll be a good run for the subject C4
I figure I'll just roll out to about 30 before I spray it. When I ran the 11.68 I sprayed just befor the 60'. When I ran the 12.0 I ran out to about 30 before I hit it. I think a 12.0 run will take the MB.
I test drove a AMG SLK 55 vert....it was a nice fast car, but my Callaway would have absolutely killed it.
Where did you drive that? There is no AMG SLK55...only AMG SLK32. There is a SL55 but I seriously doubt your callaway will kill it, it puts out 469hp and 516tq and runs 12.35 in the 1/4, and it weights 4310lbs

Sorry I got my numbers wrong I guess. I test drove one with a friend. The guy was telling me it was a 500hp car, but it wasn't. It ran good but I guess it was the 350hp slk 32 youre talking about. Beats me...all I know is the price tag was 90k and my car would have destroyed it. But since my car is making about 435hp and 600+ lbft, Id say I could kill him.
BTW you seem to be down on B2ks based on your past posting experience...but so you'll know we finally found the guy from California who is currently running mid-high 10s in his Callaway with a couple of mods. He was running low 11s at 123(i think) 100% STOCK w/ slicks. Check out CAC if you want to read about it.
actually I was wrong, I just did my research and the horsepower figure that I just listed on the SL55 is for the European version. The American version which is not yet available, will produce 500hp! and is supposed to run 11s in the 1/4. It is suppose to run down the 996TT, both in the 1/4 and topspeed.
I am not talking down on B2Ks but you have to realize that the AMG SL55 is a 21th century world class sports car that cost more than 150K, you have to respect the engineering that goes behind this flagship automobile with Formula 1 technology back their development. you shouldn't feel bad that your 20+ year old B2K is out done by one of the best luxurous sports cars in the world. It's ok! Just because you have a boost controller doesn't mean that it is the fastest thing on the road.
It's really easy to claim your car is faster or as fast as others when you have no proof. You should really take your car to the track and see what it does and not refer to other people cars that are similar to your when doing a comparison. That proves nothing.
If you get a chance pick up the newest motor trend in there you will find the fastest car shoot out. In that article they have the CL55 which is the same engine as the SL55 but with 5 less hp, 1000lbs heavier, less aerodynamic, and it is NOT even considered a sports car. That car was the 2nd fastest right behind the lambogini muricelago, beating out the new viper, and eating the Z06, Ferrari Marranello, and at least 5 other very fast cars money can buy.
ANY 10 SEC STREET CAR WILL SHOW IT'S REAR TAIL LIGHTS TO ANY OF THESE"FASTEST STREET CAR SHOOT OUT" CARS.I'ts NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO BUILD A TEN-SECOND Z06-MUSTANG-CAMARO-HONDA-ECT..THAT CAN HANDLE AND STOP WITH THE AMOUNTS OF MONEY THESE EXOTIC MACHINES COST . SURE IT WOULD BE NICE TO OWN ONE , BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE DO?AND THOSE WHO DO USUALLY FIND OUT THE HARD WAY THAT THEIR CARS AREN'T AS FAST AS THEY THOUGHT WHEN THEY CHALLENGE THE WRONG PEOPLE. LINGENFELTER IS A PRIME EXAMPLE WHAT A LITTLE BIT OF HOT RODDING WILL DO WHEN COMPARED TO ALL THESE EXOCTIC MACHINES.

I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO YELL....I HAVE ONE OF THEM 10SEC STREET CARS.
Suddenly you're THE authority of performance cars by reading magazines?? Please they run the Z06 in 13.0 in some of those rags. BTW I don't have a boost controller on my car so that shoots your little theory. I guess b/c I have a Callaway must car must be slow. Youre wrong about my car and its ok. I hate to tell you but the 1/4 mile time is not the end all of performance, it depends greatly on the driver and ability of the car to hook up. Run one of those cars in a rolling or 1 mile race and see what happens.
