I need to get the drip tabs cut down on my valve covers this afternoon, but don't have the heads right now. I'm using the crane gold series 1.6:1 rockers. Can anyone tell me which tabs need to be cut down and an estimate on how far. I don't want to wait until the last minute to start cutting on them, but I can trim them up to fit perfectly later if I didn't cut off enough. Thanks in advance.
On my '92, I had to cut them all, right down to the base. I also ended up having to skim down the tubes that inclose the valve cover bolts, as they were rubbing.
The 92 uses a magnesium valve cover so you can break them off easily if you cut them slightly. I don't think I would try it on the plastic covers though.

Exactly the same here. Cut/grind them off flush, then narrow down the bolt tubes. If they are magnesium watch out for flare ups when grinding/cutting, the dust is flammable.
Here is what I did. Grind down all the tabs naturally, then grind the tubes on the sides that have the RR nearest them. Then if there is any webbing to the bolts tubes I had to cut huge notches out of them, otherwise they would hit the RR. Especially the pro mags, they have big old fat bodies at the pivot point.

ncider, use a dremel to score the drip tabs, then you can snap them off. If the bolt towers need shaving, you can do that after a test fit over your rockers. Here's a link to mine when I did them: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/cabobo...c=bc%26.view=l
