Hi Guys, Been a while since I have been in the Forum. I had written sometime ago about a problem I was having with my 94. DIC lights were comming on while driving. Well, it has gotten worse and don't know where to go with this one. Been to chevy dealer and seems they want alot of cash to check this one out. Anyhow, here is my prob.
While Driving long distance, My DIC lights flash on for about 2 seconds and then off. If I have the Cruise on... It kicks it out. I kept the cruise off and lights flashed on and off. I went to Chevy and they asked me if I lost power to the engine. Which I didn't. All dash instruments were fine. He mentioned that the 94 was notorious for screwy alternators. Said, when it drops down in voltage, it will shut down and then come back. It stayed at 14.3 volts thru the whole trip. Tried to elimiate different things. Turned of ABS, no difference. Different speed. nope. Was cruising at 80 by the way. Something else, when I get in the car and close the door, I can here a clicking and door locks and bouncing back and forth. Not locking, just moving a tad. Are the doors suppose to lock when I get in and turn the key on? With all this, I suspected that the problem is with the PKE system, or the Security system. Is it correct in assuming that if the resister in the key is bad, that the car would not start or shut down? I have changed my main key to the spare (has resister) and haven't had a chance to see if that was problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Definitly LOST and road map can't pull me outta this one. hehe.. Just don't wanna get stranded. Vette has 62k miles on it.
