Hey guys. I'm kinda new to all of this computer controlled stuff on these new cars and wasn't really interested in it until I bought my Corvette. I'm interested in learning about burning chips, the process and the knowledge required. Where is a good place for a beginner, and I mean beginner to start? Are there any good books on the subject I could get?
Read the entire FAQ at the beginning of this forum. Go to some of the links and read other info as well. Lot of general info, but you will have to start burning your own to understand what is going on a little better (if you are like me that is). :conehead
Burning PROMS is easy. It's the tuning that's hard. :)
If you read the promintro article on thirdgen.org and decide you want to give it a try, GMECMEdit is a good, free .bin editor. You can download it from http://gmecmedit.markmansur.com/. It includes the $32b and the $6e.ecu files and ARAP (auto) and APYP (man) .bins for MAF cars.
I just checked out the GMECM editor, it is a nice little progam. I use Tuner Cat and I have most of the ECM files for what I do. I do like the BIN Stacker that comes with the software, but the best thing is that its free!
