Something strange happened to my Vette when I sterted her up after the winter sleep.
On Saturday I took her for a ride, in the rain... :mad to check if the tranny did work (see other thread). No problems!
On Sunday I took her for a ride again, no rain that day :D and a strange thing happened. When I turn the engine off the fan (coupé fan) was still running. I switched everything off and took out the key, the fan was still running. I took off one of the battery cables and the fan stopped. When I put the cable back on the fan started again.
What can be the problem? Burnt relay? Where can I find the relays?
There isn't a fan relay for the heating/ac, there is a fan speed controller and it may be defective and needs to be replaced. I'll post its location when I get home this evening.
A word to the wise, replace it with an AC/Delco relay or something of high quality. otherwise you're going to be replacing it just about every 3 months. Plus, this may be a sign that your fan motor needs replacement. The problem is that as the motors age, they require a little more voltage to engage, and if they're old enough, they'll cause the relay to weld itself together, causing the fan to constantly stay on.
