HELP!! Setting the idle speed
Can someone please tell me exactly step by step how to set the idle speed for an '88 4+3. I have a 52 mm throttle body, large tube runners, bigmouth, etc., and I get hesitation off idle. :confused:

The tech tips will give you a good set of instructions on setting the base idle speed. However, the article does not state that you must disconnect the "timing connector" prior to making the adjustment. My 89 Helms manual indicates this should be done for a 89. I have tried making the adjustment with the connector in the circuit and out of the circuit. Having the connector out of the circuit gives the best result on my 89. Hope this is helpful.

BTW, I have found that setting the TPS to .65 volts AFTER the base idle adjustment give more throttle response. The Helms manual states a setting of .54 volts for the base idle. Try it....you may like it! Mark: If you could hear the accent of my typing, you would recognize the Alabama accent as I am from Eutaw in Greene County.
