86 hypertech chip

86 hypertech chip
installed a hypertech chip on my 86. Hated the low speed, low excelleration shifting before, super now. I think the horsepower is up but the shifting improvement is worth the money. I was shifting out of OD in town. Dont have to now! Anyone know the real HP improvement on a pretty stock 86?

This has been beat to death Vader is right 0 HP it simply holds in gear a little longer and kicks your coolant fan a little earlier thats about it for most chips depending on which one you have.

C'mon guys! I think zero is a bit harsh. Seriously maybe 3-5 RWHP on a stock motor. The difference in shifting you are feeling is because the torque converter lock-up is delayed more than before.
Hypertech gets an extremely bad rap around here. When I had my motor rebuilt with ported heads and a TPIS cam, it already had a Hypertech in it. I sold the chip and put the factory PROM back in while waiting for my new chip (thanks again Jesse :cheers: ) The car went from a bad tune to a horrendous tune immediately. They Hypertech is different enough from stock that it did actually have some tuning capabilities on my new motor setup. I'm speaking from experience, not from what I've heard others say. So many people who have absolutely no experience with Hypertech rip on it because others have said similar things. And so the legend grows.
Having said that, I am in no way endorsing Hypertech. If you have enough mods to even need a chip, a custom burn is the only way to go. But Hypertech will give you more than 0 hp. Maybe not much more, but more nonetheless

like I said, the shifting improvement is enough for me. seems like the rear tires break a little easier but may be I'm just getting used to driving my first HP car. :steering:
