The first thing to do is get under the car and bang on the cat with your fist.
If it sounds like its full of sand or rocks, it bad.
If it passes that test, it could be good OR bad.
Ain't diagnostics grand?

I odn't knwo about exact NOx emissions, etc..
But when my cat was bad (FULLY bad).
The car ran like CRAP, always wanted to stall at idle,
and barely made it past 30mph even when 1/2 on the gas.
Felt mroe like a bad transmission than a cat. But it was tha cat.. Thank god.

If its clogged up, the car will run like sh** and there will be an abnormal amount of heat in the cabin.
