Default Nitrous pressure question

TNT Wet 150 shot
NX Express bottle heater
Super rammed 383

When my bottle was full, it would read around 1100 psi (give or take).
Now, I am guessing that my bottle is about half full. It reads around 750-800 psi.
I turn the bottle heater on, but I never really gave it that much time to heat up.

How much will the bottle heater raise the psi to?

But my main question... is there a direct co-relation between psi and power output? Full pressure (1100 psi)=100 % power output. What about 750 psi?

*****EDIT****
This was also posted in C4 Forced Induction/Nitrous to allow more people to respond and hopefully answer my questions.

It needs to be between 950 and 1050 psi to really pack the punch. Any less PSI and the fuel pill will cause the shot to be rich and will take away quite a bit of the luster. At 800psi, the loss will be significant. Higher than 1050-1100 and the mixture will be lean (VERY bad).

The NX bottle heater regulates the bottle pressure using a transducer inline with the heater element. It is intended to regulate it between 950-1100 psi. Mine can take up to 30-40 minutes to get the bottle up to pressure depending on how cold it is to start.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do notice a significant decrease in power output at the lower psi. I was telling my friend whom I took out on a ride that although it was rated at 150 hp, it was really probably only putting out half. I totally guessed at that, which lead me to the question about the corelation between psi and hp output on the nitrous.

I guess I'll just have to wait longer for the bottle heater to work. I was too impatient, I wanted to run it. :D

Let's just say my last dyno my bottle pressure was at 800 and I gained 10 horsepower from the 150 shot. The difference is enormous.

You could see when the nitrous kicked on in the graph as my air fuel went from 13:1 to around 9:1.

How much $$ does it take to fill a Nitrous Bottle? And where do you get it filled?

Anywhere from $2 - $5 per pound, standard bottles hold 10LB, so anywhere from $20-$50 per full fill. It will last 5-15 1/4 mile runs depending on the shot size. Many of your local speed shops will have a refill station.

Thanks Chris,

I assume nitrous puts you in a different class at the drag strip?

Boy oh boy, it costs me $85 Canadian to fill a 10 lb. bottle.
THey ask me to either leave the bottle overnight and they put it in a freezer, or to bring it to them very very cold. The tell me the colder it is, the more charge (nitrous?) they can put in it.

I can feel it kicking, but nowhere near the 150 hp at the moment. Wow, 10 hp on your dyno? Jeebus , I'll learn to be more patient with the bottle heater. :D

Depends on what type of racing your doing and how they have the classes set up. Unless I am racing heads up which is rare, the bottle stays closed anyway.
