i cleaned the iac and did a reset. the car idles perfect, but after i drive and stop the first time, it idles to low. it seems that the iac relearns wrong ?

I would be suspicious of tb issues (worn shaft). However, if you want to try another IAC, I'll sell you a used one I know is working properly if you can't get one over there (off my '95, I think it's the same). lspalding@ameritech.net
I started to get the IAC code when I use the AC and stop at a light. the RPMs drop to 500 or below, and bang light comes on. How hard is it to replace the IAC?
thanks for response. i already have a new (1/2 y.o.) iac valve. i cleaned the intake yesterday but no change.
i remeber taht i took off the thin vacuum lines (under left cover) to reach the oil presuure switch (i changed the switch). from this moment she had the symtoms (rough idle). maybe i bent the map a litlle bit, so that maybe the small thing that goes into the left engine side is not sitting right in the middle (and stuck).
i´ll check these vacuum related things today and see what happens.
thanks frank
p.s. i hope i can visit the "great 50 years corvette meet" tomorrow in munich (germany)

The best way to do this is to remove the throttel body and remove the IAC and than get some throttel body cleaner and clean the assembly out taking care not to wet the TPS. You be suprised how varnished the area around the blades are.
Bluewasp, to change the IAC you just:
-unplug the cable & unscrew the IAC
-clean the pintel bore with carb cleaner
-install the new IAC & plug in the cable
-set base idle, per method on my site

Frank92,
The IAC doesn't learn anything. Its just set wrong.
Search through the archieves on IAC and my user name you will find a few of the articles I wrote that explain the idle problems that people have. Its way to much to retype.
That is why I wish we had sticky posts. hint hint.
