Default LT1 Hot Cam

anyon know what the Hp/Tq #'s would be for a stock LT1 with the hotcam kit installed? I got a quote of close to 40RWHP and it sounded a little too good to be true.

There was some testing with that cam a few years ago by Chevrolet High Performance magazine. Back then with a stock LT4 and the HOT cam kit they had tested around 420Hp at the Flywheel. Given a 20% drive train loss that would equate to about 336 at the rear wheels which is pretty respectable.

I have heard 30hp, but I think you would need to do RR's too to get that and maybe more.

Back to the original question, what about for a STOCK LT1? I'm interested to hear if anybody has any dyno #s, too.

From everything I've seen people do on here 20rwhp from just the cam swap on an otherwise stock LT1 seems about right. Guys have gotten anywhere from 20 to 40 rwhp gains depending on what mods they had before the swap.

I installed the HOT CAM and LT4 springs on my stock LT1 years ago and picked up a solid .3 tenths and 3 mph in the 1/4 mile, CNC'd the stock LT1 castings later on and picked up another .3 tenths and 3 mph.

By the way, I am in the process of freshening up my engine and decided to go with a bigger custom grind camshaft so my HOT CAM and LT4 springs are now available for sale. I'll post them separately in the parts section but thought someone following this thread might want first dibs.

I'll sell the HOT CAM and LT4 valve springs, locks, and retainers for $150.

Later,
