Hey guys, my antenna seems to work only intermittently... "when it wants to".
I think its just the electric motor that needs to be changed.
Has anyone done this before? how long did it take you? was it hard?

not hard but it will consume a few hours. you will need to remove the rear left wheel, inner fender, fender brace, and some interior trim. Not bad but it is a little tight in the fender to get your hand up in it.

1. did it last year; aftermarket unit
2. took about 2 1/2 hours.....I work slowly.......

I just did it on my 88. Took maybe an hour and I didn't have to take anything apart other than the bolts that hold the antenna/motor assembly in and the rear trim panels. Hardest part was popping out the grommet and poppling in the new one. Some liquid soap smeared on it will help the new one in. It helps to have a second person to grab the wires as you feed them through and to line up the antenna with the hole.

Some people don't have to remove the rear wheel. They can reach straight up underneath the rear of the vette to the bezel. I couldn't reach it and had to remove the wheel well. My total work time was around 1 hr.

I just got through with replacing the antenna on my 91. The forum has some excellent How To explanations - look there (that's what I did).
The best thing I did was to remove the rear wheel and fender well. That made access to the antenna very easy. The entire job only took maybe a few hours.
