Good points, Gus. That's why I wanted to know if it might be beneficial to me and my purposes. My whole suspension system is pretty much new (shocks, bushings, front and rear bearing/hubs, etc), and I was curious if the CB might make a difference on the track. I see a number of buyers have older cars and they are very happy with the results. I see some newer ones with it as well (92 - 96), but the majority would be the 84 - 91 cars.
I am very tempted to get it and just try it. I would have to think if I don't like it I could get most of my money back thru the 4-sale board. I'm surprised Gary hasn't commented yet. ;)
Allt hose white braces are on my 89 FE1 car (non-Z51)
*All* of them, Jeff???
Check out those wedge-shaped pieces between the 45* braces and the side frame rails. My car has the 45* braces, but they are longer than the Z51 braces (because I don't have those welded-in wedge-shaped pieces). My braces are a different part # than the Z51 braces, too.
Rich, Next time I am under the car I will look, I know I have the 45* pieces, not sure on the wedges though.
Dave has graciously agreed to a GP- $180 and he'll pay shipping if we can get ten members- we have six so far. Only caveat is that he'll need two weeks or so to complete the orders- he's under the summer crunch. I know this is the same price as the Corvette Mall price but shipping will be included- any takers?
I have the forward cross brace (white brace) in my 92 convert. I also have the 45 braces, but I don't have the wedges that the 45s attach to. After looking closely at my front end, I don't think the CB will fit because of that cross brace. And I don't think I need it.
this is what I'm gonna do.
at the track the body roll in my 96 Z51 is terrible. I recently installed the CB to help "eliminate" body roll. so this weekend I have another event coming up. we'll see what the buttmeter says.
I was going to slap in the 30mm front bar and 26mm rear bar before the event.... but with this thread, I will wait and see the difference in only the CB install. no other changes were made except the CB, and I lowered the rear a 1/4" which is nil.
so because of all you guys, I have 2 new shinny swaybars that will sit in my garage until after this weekend.
I'll probably wish I installed the bars cause the track event is 3 days, but I'll live with the skimpy 96 bars....
on a similiar note, the 30mm front solid bar is much heavier that the OE96 hollow 26mm bar. so that will be even more weight added to the front :cry
