Changed the oil in the new engine today and all is good. Drain plug had almost no...uhh..."scuzz" on it. Oil was not too black, had some green in it which I'm sure is assy lube. I really didn't plan on doing it today so I had to go with the base ACDelco filter we sell. Switched her over to Mobil1 and it's happy motoring.
This particular 500 mile service included new 24#SVO injectors and MSD 8.5 wires. Just following the service manual ;) . I'm pretty sure I have the right injectors now, thanks Jesse. I had the afpr maxed out to help the stock 19#'ers flow and forgot to back it off so I had to roll into the throttle, and there is a noticeable difference. With the stock inj it didn't seem to make much more power at 5000 than at 3000, now it just keeps pulling harder. :D
I didn't drive it too hard, need to get the oil cooler installed, saw a big fat 249 on the oil temp gauge, coolant at 183 cruising.
I have to say I am extremely happy and can't wait to get this thing painted and the new interior in it.
oldace,
Yes, brand new motor. You can do a search under my username for details and history if you'd like. Otherwise to save you some time, it's a 408cid with mini-ram intake. I installed it over the winter and finally managed to drive 500 miles between raindrops.
