Default Heads porting - almost done

I'm finally getting near the end with heads porting.
I thought that it would be a lot faster but it really takes a lot of time.
I still have to two exhaust ports to finish and then polish all of the exaust
ports. Probably tomorrow i'll be done with that.

On weekend i'll polish the valves and I hope to take heads and valves
to shop on Monday for seats and valve job.

I'm planing to get everything assembled till 10. - 15. August.
Can't wait to get it started again.
I haven't heard it for six months.

But I hope to have :D face back on soon!

Anyway here are a few pics:

I would highly recommend having that heads fly cut to make sure they are parrallel and also to get all that gunk off them so you have a good sealing surface. If you reassemble them with all that crud on them, you will surely have a head gasket problem.

Looks like a nice P&P job you did . You can really see the difference in the size! Good job

The heads will be fly cut on Monday by the same shop who is doing my valve job.

Looks good.

Don't foreget to polish and round a little the spark plug bosses in the combustion chambers. A little polish would inhibit carbon build up; swirl will come from a reduced quench area if you use a thinner head gasket.

Definitely remove any burs inside the chamber. The burs provide tempoerature risers that will pre-ignite the mixture and result in pinging.

I believe in smooth highly poilshed combustion chambers myself. Use fine grit sand paper in the chambers, then use a polishing compound to get a mirror finish. It does make a difference.

Is polishing compound necessary? Wouldn't it burn off after the first stroke on startup?? I'm just curious as I'm doing the same thing as we speak. :yesnod:
