Default Aluminum Timing cover

Can anyone tell me if an aluminum timing cover will fit on an L-98. I'm thinking that I read somewhere that there was a clearence issue with the Corvette water pump.

Thanks in advance,
Dave :seeya

I'd like to know that one too!! My '90 L98 is out right now for an R&B and I was thinking about ditching the steel timing cover.

Dave I have one on mine. I don't remember the brand but it is a heavy cast alluminum. The stock back plate on the water pump has a bulge on it and it will hit the cover. I made a flat plate and ground about half the head off the cap screws and it has been working like that for over four years with no leaks. Your mileage may vary :D Hope this helps. The reason I installed that cover is because I put a roller in the old style block and didn't want to use the cam button. I have a torrington bearing behind the cam gear and a ball bearing on a adjustable bolt built into the timing cover to set the end play also I can remover a small center section of the cover to change the cam timing. If you want to know what brand i have let me know I can go back through my receipts and find out what it is.
