I'd go with the max legal, no sense in giving them any more reasons for pulling you over. Once done, remember to use only auto glass cleaner.
No windex :nono:
More specifically... avoid using ANY clener that has ammonia
Your in luck! Here's the e-mail of one of my customers... (he just sold his vette) But - he is a representative of PERFORMANCE FILM DISTRIBUTORS, INC. (They are the distributors of LLumar Window Tint for the State of Florida) he can answer all your questions or point you in the right direction!
If you wouldn't mind please mention that Greg from Florida Lithographix referred you!
In OKC, I was quoted $140-180. My issue was that no one would do the rear hatch w/ one piece. I found out about a guy from the local Corvette club who does tinting for $125 cash on the barrel head, and the back was done with one piece. Also - as mentioned in a previous post - he knew to trim around the struts.
Have you guys seen some of that blue tint? I've seen one or two cars with it and always wondered what it would look like on my black vette. It looks very cool. If anyone has done it, I'd like to see a picture.

Re: Window Tint (Southern Comfort)
More importantly, which of these tints are polarized?
I DON'T want polarized tint on my back window, it will blind my radar detector. I know you can see the polarized stuff if you wear polarized sunglasses. I guess I'll need to get another pair.
I got mine dont last week..in Atlanta...for 165...Im not happy with it so gonna take it back...the overlaps on the rear window didnt work out very well... :seeya
For those worried about the legality of tints darker than the states allows, I heard from a friend that they can't pull you over strictly because of the tint, but they can add it to the list of charges if they pull you over for speeding or something. I have no idea if there's actually truth behind that though....

This is NOT true in Florida... my 80 year old Mom was pulled over on her way to church one morning..the cop followed her into the church parking lot and embarrassed her in front of everyone...he told her he pulled her over for tint only...gave her a ticket...I went down to the police station and pitched a fit with the chief...damn if they sure can pull you over just for tint...cost the ticket and $50 to re-tint the side windows..btw, the tint was only a week old at the time... :mad
I have an 86 it cost me 75.00 but check your laws for how dark that you can have. it is the side windows the cops dont want dark the back can be black but check before you have it put on
I guess I stand corrected. Following her to church? Man that is just not right.

I was quoted a price of $300 to tint the back hatch and side windows on my '94 coupe. $200 for the rear window alone, and it would have to be done in three pieces!
To get it done in one piece (and for a much cheaper price!), just take a 13/64 rod with a slight bend after 4 inches, and knock the pins out of the hatch mounting hinges up on the Halo. Then unbolt the hydraulic struts and take the hatch glass off the car. (Have a friend help you, the glass is heavy.)
Take the hatch to a tint shop, and have your new convertibles side windows tinted. Then its just a matter of realigning the pins and attaching the struts for reinstall...if you want to go back to a coupe.
I used Sunblockers I think they are nationwide, They charged me $169.00 for the hatch 5% and $70.00 for the sides 35%. Excellent job, lifetime warranty. The day after I had it done there was a bubble that they said might go away in a few hours, if not new tint, well they put new tint on and no problems.
If a Radar Detector is inside the car, as opposed to remote mounted outside, any in line metallized tint will reduce the radar signal and reduce sensitivity. Full metallic is worse than hybrid metallic. If the radar detector is high mounted behind a windshield strip, that could hurt front sensitivity. Similarly, rear window metallized tint will hurt rear sensitivity. This applies to all bands X, K, and Ka. If rear radar is a threat, best to either have remote mounted sensors or do some testing to tell how much sensitivity is lost.
Laser sensitivity is more problematic. If any tint is advertised as reducing heat rays from the sun (most are), that is infrared blocking and will greatly blind the laser detector. Again, only if the detector is behind a windshield strip will front sensitivity be hurt.
I have not seen independent tests of tinted vs non tinted cars. That would be interesting.
