I don't think it would be RELATIVELY difficult to get a centrifual s/c hooked up to an LT5  I'd really like to see that actually. Just need to make space and provide custom tubing like anything else.
Go ask the ZR1 guys this question. :) Trust me, it comes up a lot.

If your just looking for some new power, then you could always opt for some new High FLow Heads and you could change out the Intake for a stealth Ram or Something else if you have a 85-91 Corvette. 92+ I'm pretty sure higher flowing heads come for 2K.
If your looking for a Supercharger for your C4, then you will be better off with a Centrifugal SC instead of a Roots type.

I'll through my 2 cents worth in here. Just a few comments:
1) There is a HUGE difference between a "Roots" type blower and a twin screw blower. The twin screw blower compresses the air between the screws (like squeezing it in your hand) and a Roots blower pressurizes the entire manifold with rotary vanes (like pointing a fan into a trash can).
Notice that you don't have to punch a hole in your hood unless you want to. Superchargersonline.com is a good place to start. You can compare all the various types there.
On Thursday, I got an engine builder started on a new 406, and I will be putting a Whipple hot-rod kit on top. It should be a lot better than my old, tired, 350!
