Alternator bracket question
I need a new alternator braket (the one on top) for my 85 and i was told that I have to buy one from a 85 and that no other years would fit. I thought all the L98's use the same bracket ,am I wrong?. Also do you know where I can buy one and for how much.

They are different on the 89 to the 85s......the 85s go way back and on the 89s they are to the first set of bolts. I'm assuming your talking about the smaller backet, and not the large one that hold most of the alternator.

I have an 87 and I have a smaller bracket to hold the alternator and smog pump in place. However mine broke due to age.. and I bought one from a fellow forum member from a 1986 Vette. When I recieved it, it was bigger than the bracket that I have. I found the reason was because early 86 Vettes had the iron cast heads.. while the later ones had the aluminum heads. I'm not sure if your 85 has the same or not.. but I got a bracket for sale in the FS section. :cheers:
