Default Problem with delco stero.

Hello all.
I have recently had a problem with my factory Delco tape deck... First some background. The vette is a 1990 coupe and I recently replaced both the altenator and the battery. Before I replaced those two things the radio worked fine. After replacement when ever I turn on the radio the antenna goes up. but the radio doesn't work  It just says CD IN and CA IN plus the time. The clock works fine, I am able to set it and it doesn't reset or anything. I checked the fuse and it was fine (wouldn't think there would be a problem since the thing still sorta works). I tried popping a tape in there and it doesn't play the tape (wont fastforward or rewind) and to eject it I have to turn the radio off (so the antenna goes down). I read the manual that comes with the car and it sorta hinted maybe an anti-theft system was activated (since the radio lost all power with the battery and alternator coming out) and that I have to goto the dealership to fix this. <--- I don't want to do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you replace the battery or the alternator first? If you replaced the alternator first, did you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the alternator. I'm concerned if you may have shorted something in the process since everything worked before the new installs.

I understand that you checked the fuse, but you should have a fuse for the theft deterrent module, and you may have a fuse for the radio ignition, and radio battery.

Most dealers don't repair radios, so if forum members aren't able to help you solve your problem, chose a reputable radio repair shop in your area. Ask around for recommendations.

Give Doctor Don's a call. He is in TX and does a lot of work on Vette radios. He has my Bose amps right now. :flag

There are 2 fuses that power the radio.
Radio fuse 10 amp
ctsy/clk 15 amp

I replaced the battery first since that was less work then the altenator, unfortunately the battery still drained. So I unhooked the battery, got an altenator, swapped out the altenator, rehooked the battery, start the car. That was the order I did it all in.

I checked the other fuses those are all fine also. Does anyone know where I can get a picture of the wiring scheme for the stero? I don't think anything would have come loose though but I guess that is my next logical step if I can't find a logical reason for it not working :nonod: Thanks for your help so far, any more input is appreciated :yesnod:

Is this stock delco or bose ?
If its bose and everything works and no sound it could be amp relay.
As for wiring schematics try this link

Good Luck

Thanks for all your help, I am gonna e-mail the doctor place and see what that say. If thats doesn't yield anything I guess I will try to rip it apart and see if anything is burnt out. The stero is the stock delco (everything says delco on it so I would assume its not bose).
