Default Oil question

Ok, in this thread there will be a lot of people telling me to go to Mobil 1.

But this thread is a different question.

What is the advantage of Valvoline VR1 Racing Formula 20w50

vs.

Valvoline 20w50.

Basically, what is the VR1 Racing Formula's difference?

Default Oil question

Maybe the racing formula is intended for higher rpm engines that see higher operating temperatures?

In the past it had alot more Zinc and Phosporous along with added anti foam and different or less viscosity index improvers . It has been reformulated and uses more Anti-Wear additives" not zinc " and Emulsification additives for use with fuels such as Methanol .

It is still available and they have dropped the straight 40 wt from the lineup but now offer a real racing only 5/30 wt that should not be used on the street for long term . This racing only 5/30 and the Redline racing only oil are the only two available oils I personally know of that actually should be used for racing only and not on the street as far as the old wives tail of racing oils cannot be used on the street is concerned.
